Week 27: March 29-April 1

Welcome back from Spring Break!

Theme this week: Tadpoles and Frogs, Easter.

M/T: life cycle of the frog.  Work on shelf: frog life cycle - the children get to put the 4 different frog models in order from tadpole - grown frog.
W/Th: Easter.  We are coloring/decorating Easter eggs.

Phonograms: Review 1 - 46

More new work activity trays are on the shelf to encourage fine motor skills - the use of tweezers and chopsticks for transferring very small beads and pompoms (vs large size objects last month), one-many water pouring activity, math work - to solidify knowledge of numerals and quantities - in RANDOM order (my own version of the spindle work).

Of course, we are also learning new spring-themed songs and rhymes to go along with our theme lessons.  This week we are reviewing the rhyme Tiny Tim.

I have a little frog
His name is Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
He ate up all the soap
And then he BURPED out loud
From a bubble in his throat.

I also sent home the plants that they planted three weeks ago.  The green bean plants have grown to a foot tall and needing more dirt to spread their roots!

Coming up next week: Unit on Butterflies
