Work and Armel's Last day

Today was another day full of awesome work! We also said goodbye to Armel who will start homeschool - we will miss his cute face and personality at school!

Ava doing copy work with our animal cards.  best thing about this is that she came up with this work activity on her own.  This is a good example of Montessori's language curriculum in action.

note: Children spend a lot of time doing preparation exercises for reading and writing in school.  They do works over and over - this fills a need within themselves and every child is different and have very different time tables. At the time when they are most sensitive (absorb a lot of information in a short time) they begin writing and reading almost entirely on their own.  My job is simply to "follow the child" (as Montessori says) and guide them during this time and present them with work activities to further their interest and knowledge.  It is so fun to watch them bloom!
