Week 5 - Week of 9/8 - 9/10
Phonograms: 1- 9 *please visit http://www.phonogrampage.com for more information on Spalding phonograms.
Letter of the Week: t
Circle Games: Silence and Everyday Sounds Game
New Work on Shelf: Pouring rice using a funnel, Initial sounds object matching game (m,s,a,t), cutting strips exercise, Things that Go Together object sorting
The pouring rice work is popular with the kids. All of them told me the work "was easy" only to find out it took more coordination and careful pouring to achieve the desired results. I got some good concentration from all of them that worked on this activity - they all tried to do the exercise between 5 and 10 times (at least) until they were content with their achievement.
9/8 Luke came today and worked on spelling c-v-c words using the movable alphabet.
9/10 The girls did lots of math practice (0-10) with our number rods, numerals and counters, spindle boxes and sandpaper numbers. Also reviewed sandpaper letters. Although we have only learned m,s,a,t so far, some have mastered the sound and how to trace the first grouping of letters (red box) and so I have introduced the second box (yellow) to them.
