Week 12 - Thursday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE!

Theme: Animals & Their Homes - we read a book about the different names of homes of animals, and tell which ones were our favorite animals and homes.
Phonograms 1-35.

Presentations:
Roc: Box 1 letters, Number rods and numerals 3,1,4; magnifying pictures. Roc is ready to move on to Box 2 letters.
Luke: Island/Lake land forms, Oval inset work - he loved doing this, he did it over and over (which I love to see!)
Jace: Introduction to 10,100,1000; Introduction to Bank Game
Collin: Tens Board - Names and Quantities

It was a special day for Luke, who celebrated his 4th birthday on Tuesday. We did the celebration of life, his mom came. Luke was shy about taking the earth around the sun, so we did a little variation where he picked a friend to go around for him while we sang "The Earth goes 'round the Sun". Then as usual, we sang him a Happy Birthday and he blew out the Sun. We are so happy to have Luke at preschool, he is so sweet and a good little worker.

The boys were so into their work that they didn't even ask to go downstairs for water/snack break. I try not to interrupt work cycles like this, as that is when they are learning the most. I timed them and they worked from 10:00 - 11:15. I had to cut it short so we could do our Calendar/Pledge/Weather circle before going off to lunch and Luke's Celebration of Life.
